A recent Forbes article describes the ways in which this new philanthropic channel of ASCM is taking ambitious new actions in collaboration with corporations, nonprofits and private foundations in order to address pressing global challenges. We are mobilizing supply chain communities, skilled leaders and visionary partners, introducing opportunity and solving critical problems that affect countless lives.
The Foundation leverages ASCM offerings and the APICS body of knowledge — the global standard in professional development for 60 years — to launch and expand a set of bold, strategic initiatives that draw on the power of supply chains. Priorities include
- building frontier and humanitarian supply chains that support Ministries of Health in sub-Saharan Africa as they enhance the capabilities of industry professionals and country-based communities of practice to give people consistent and affordable access to food, medicine, vaccines and other life essentials
- providing K-12 supply chain, STEM and career awareness opportunities that educate and engage future supply chain professionals and address the skills shortage
- developing diversity and inclusion initiatives that ensure people of all profiles and backgrounds can do meaningful work, share perspectives and succeed in supply chain careers
- amplifying supply chain workforce development, including career training, supply chain certification resources and content development with academic institutions in order to put people on a meaningful path toward high-quality, rewarding jobs.
