The APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) program is recognized as the standard of professional competence in materials management, master scheduling, forecasting, production planning and how it applies across the extended supply chain.

If you have any of these responsibilities, consider pursuing the CPIM:

  • Work with other manufacturing systems and technologies
  • Planning, at any level of the planning hierarchy

Earning Your CPIM

Your APICS Certification preparation begins with the APICS learning system. The APICS learning system is a comphrensive program with access to print and digital material, interactive learning activities, quizzes, flashcards and downloadable content so you can study anywhere. The CPIM 2020 Learning System is broken down in to five modules spread across two parts:

CPIM Part 1

  • Module 1: Basics of Supply Chain Management

CPIM Part 2

  • Module 1: Strategic Management of Resources (SMR)
  • Module 2: Master Planning of Resources (MPR)
  • Module 3: Detailed Scheduling and Planning (DSP)
  • Module 4: Execution and Control of Operations (ECO)

CPIM Part 1 and CPIM Part 2 exams must be passed within three years of each other to earn the CPIM designation.

Study options give you the ability to choose your perfect fit based on your personal preferences, scheduling, budget and more.

Self-Study: Study at your own pace with this flexible option.  Self-Study learning systems combine printed books with an online, interactive platform that includes learning activities, quizzes, flashcards and downloadable content so you can study anywhere.

Instructor-Led: Pair the Learning System with the guidance of an experienced instructor and the benefits of a classroom environment.  You can choose from a network of over 300 APICS channel partners that offer in-person and online classes worldwide.

Instructor-Supported: For those who can’t attend classes at a set time, but want instructor support, we offer instructor-supported online classes through Fox Valley Technical College. You will be assigned one instructor for the 12-week course, but there is no required meeting time, so you can complete the weekly assignments on your own schedule.

Corporate/Group Training: We’ll help your organization organize small or large groups of self-study or instructor-led classes at your facility or virtually.
